The Skene Street Project secures top award from Tesco’s Bags of Help Fund!

We are very excited to reveal that after voting during December that The Skene Street Project has been awarded the top award for Tesco’s Bags of Help fund which is done in partnership with Groundwork UK.

This means we have been awarded £5000 towards The Skene Street Project which is a huge boost for the project.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time while shopping in Tesco to put a token in the voting box across the region it really does mean a lot to know that the project is supported by the community and wider Aberdeen!

A bit about Tesco Bags of Help Fund 

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales. The scheme sees three community groups and projects in each of around 200 Tesco regions awarded grants of £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge. greenspace scotland is working with Groundwork to support Scottish communities.

Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 1 to 31 December on who should receive the £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards.
