Some Great news for The Skene Street Project & an update!

The Good News

April has been a great month for the Skene Street project! During March we announced that we had applied for planning permission. We are very pleased to say that permission was granted for the improvements to access and enhancements of the area on the 11th of April. This means we have another box ticked when it comes to putting in grant applications.

We also received a great boost from Consulting Structural & Civil Engineers firm Ramsey & Chalmers who have already helped us by providing their services for free by creating a report needed for some of the work. Their staff have very kindly voted to donate money which is raised by their dress down days at work to the Skene Street Project. This marks the first cash donation since we started campaigning for the current phases of the project.

So what comes next?

Recently it was reported in the Evening Express that we have agreed to work on a crowd funding campaign in a bid to start raising money for the Skene Street project. We are currently building the best campaign possible to give us the best chance to raise money towards our project. As part of that we are seeking help to make a video introducing the project to those who have maybe never heard about the project.

We are appealing to students or professionals who would be interested in helping and to be part of The Skene Street project to get in touch by emailing skenestreetproject@citycentrecc.com.

While we build our crowd funding campaign we will be making applications to various grant streams and appealing to local businesses who maybe able to help with the skills we need and or materials which would help reduce the cost of the project.

Finally following the successful planning application, with the help of Lucy MacKenzie from George Watt & Stewart Architects we will be seeking a building warrant which is required for some of the work such as a removal of a set of stairs and creating the new entrance.

We want to say thank you to everyone who has helped and been involved in getting us this far and to see things coming together only makes us work harder to make the project a success.
