Plans for the Skene Street Project have been lodged with Aberdeen City Council

Following our meeting in March during which Lucy Mackenzie of George Watt & Stewart went over the details of our plans for the Skene Street Project we agreed to have them submitted to the planning department which was done by Lucy on our behalf on the 10th March.

20160312_095501The site has seen an increase in use since working in partnership with Aberdeen City Council  to secure funding from Aberdeen Green Space and the former Aberdeen Forward group to install a new path fencing and play equipment.

What happens next?

The next stage is to wait for the application to be validated by the planning department where it will go for the statutory consultation time during which we would encourage everyone and specifically those in the local area to comment and let us know what everyone thinks.

After that it will be up to the Aberdeen City Council if the plans are approved. If they are approved it will be a major help in securing vital funding towards the project which is something we are currently working on.

Our Chairman Dustin Macdonald said:

“This is a major step in the process to providing what we hope will be a multi-generational space that the local and wider community can enjoy. The site has already seen great improvements which is generating footfall in the area. We are20160312_095623

determined to see the whole project through to completion. We would ask anyone who thinks they would
be able to help financially, volunteering when it is needed or the sort of professional skills we will need to make The Skene Street project happen to get in touch.”
