New Temporary Traffic Order – Various streets for Christmas Lights On Parade

Description : Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named order in terms of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984. The effects of these orders, which will operate at the times given below, are necessary to protect public safety during the Aberdeen’s Christmas Lights Switch On Event and Santa Parade Event in the city centre, the annual Santa Run in the beach area, and Cults annual Christmas Carol event. One effect of the order is to impose prohibitions of waiting during the above events. On 29 November 2015, Albyn Place, Aberdeen, will be closed between its junctions with Alford Place and Albyn Grove, from 14:00 until 18:30. From 16:30 until 17:00, Union Street, Aberdeen, will be closed between, Union Terrace and Broad Street. From 17:00 until 18:30, the full length of the Union Street, Castle Street and King Street corridor will be closed between Holburn Street and East North Street. On 29 November 2015, between 11:30 and 13:00, King Street, Aberdeen, between East North Street and Castle Street, the full length of Castle Street, Aberdeen, and Union Street, Aberdeen, will be closed, as will Market Street between Union Street and Guild Street and St. Catherine’s Wynd, Aberdeen from its junction with Netherkirkgate and Union Street. A number of alternative routes will be available. On 7 December 2015, the slip road to numbers 322 to 328 North Deeside Road, Cults, Aberdeen, (that is, the slip road in front of the Cults Hotel) will be closed to traffic between 18:00 and 20:00. Finally, between 12:00 and 14:30 on 6 December 2015, the full length of Accommodation Road, Aberdeen, will be closed, as will Golf Road, Aberdeen, between its junctions with Pittodrie Street and Park Road, and Park Road, Aberdeen, will be closed between its junctions with Golf Road and Seaforth Road. The order also provides for other traffic management during the above closures. Between 18:00 on 28 November, 2015, and18:30, on 29 November, 2015, Albyn Place, Aberdeen, will be subject to a ban on parking between Albyn Grove and Alford Place, except for vehicles associated with the Santa Parade and the Aberdeen City Council Christmas Lights Switch On Event. On 29 November 2015 between 11:30 and 13:00 and again from 17:00 until 18:30, the ban on right turns from King Street, Aberdeen, onto West North Street will be temporarily suspended, as will the ban on right turns from Union Street, Aberdeen, onto Bridge Street and the right turns from Holburn Street, Aberdeen, onto Willowbank Road.
